I. Introduction to dengue fever

Dengue fever is a dangerous and potentially fatal infection. It is caused by a virus called dengue virus which belongs to the Flavivirus family. This disease is often transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, a type of mosquito common in tropical and subtropical areas. In this article, we will learn about the causes, symptoms and treatment of dengue fever.

II. Cause of dengue fever

Dengue fever is caused by the dengue virus, mainly transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. This mosquito usually lives in moist environments and breeds in standing water, such as ponds, lakes, water tanks and dry areas. When this mosquito bites an infected person, it transmits the dengue virus into that person's blood.

III. Symptoms of dengue fever

Symptoms of dengue fever usually appear after an incubation period of 3 to 7 days after being infected with the virus. Main symptoms include:

1. High fever: Patients may experience a burning sensation and high fever, often above 38°C.

2. Headache: Patients often experience severe headaches and feel tired.

3. Muscle and joint pain: Patients may experience muscle and joint pain, causing difficulty in moving and working.

4. Bleeding: One of the prominent features of dengue fever is the appearance of bleeding symptoms such as bleeding gums, bleeding limbs, nosebleeds, bleeding platelets and gastrointestinal bleeding.

IV. Treatment of dengue fever

Currently, there is no specific medicine or specific vaccine to treat dengue fever. However, symptomatic and supportive treatment is the main way to manage the disease. Here are some commonly used treatments:

1. Supportive treatment: Patients often need rest, adequate fluids, and support to treat symptoms such as fever, headache, and muscle pain.

2. Maintain water and electricity balance between the body: Patients need to be hydrated by drinking enough water and beverage solutions. In some severe cases, patients may need to be treated in hospital and receive intravenous fluids to maintain water and electricity balance between the body.

3. Management of bleeding symptoms: If patients experience serious bleeding symptoms, such as gastrointestinal bleeding or internal bleeding, they should be treated and closely monitored by medical professionals.

4. Mosquito prevention and control: To prevent the spread of dengue fever, mosquito control and mosquito prevention are very important. This includes eliminating mosquito habitats, using mosquito repellent and screen doors to prevent mosquitoes from entering your home.

Dengue fever is a dangerous disease that can cause death. Dengue virus is transmitted by mosquitoes and can cause many serious symptoms such as high fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, and bleeding. Currently, there is no specific treatment or vaccine, so dengue fever treatment relies on symptom management and body support. At the same time, mosquito prevention and mosquito control are effective ways to prevent the spread of this disease.
